MSF Aid Receives $ 3.5 Million ETH Donation

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) sent an anonymous ether donation of $ 3.5 million from the sale of non-fungible tokens.

How
reported MSF on Twitter, the sponsor chose not to reveal his identity. The organization thanked the Generative Art and Art Blocks communities for sending the donor 25% of the proceeds from the NFT sales of these projects. The funds were transferred through the special platform The Giving Block and converted into Australian dollars. The Giving Block co-founder Pat Duffy believes such donations could be the “rocket fuel” for the massive adoption of cryptocurrencies.

“We are grateful for the extraordinary generosity of Generative Art and Art Blocks. This cryptocurrency donation was sent at just the right time, as the COVID-19 emergency is exacerbating the illness of people around the world, and they are more likely to need medical attention, ”said Jennifer Tierney, Executive Director of MSF Australia.

She added that MSF has received over a dozen cryptocurrency donations since the beginning of this year. MSF will use the received ethers to assist military hospitals, emergency rooms, and people in more than 70 countries affected by natural disasters, epidemics, war and lack of access to health services. In addition, MSF will continue to work to improve the health of women, street children, migrants and refugees.

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin is also considered a supporter of charity. He is confident that if cryptocurrencies are used for good purposes, their value only increases. In May, Buterin sold all of his stocks of dog coins to SHIB, AKITA and ELON for 15,719 ETH, donating the proceeds to charities.
