MSI showed an unusual stylus: they can write both on the laptop screen and on paper

Yesterday, January 6, MSI demonstrated a rather unusual gadget at CES 2023, which, in theory, can significantly affect the modern electronics market. We are talking about the MSI Pen 2 stylus, which allows you to enter notes both on the touch screen of a laptop or tablet, and write on completely ordinary paper. It may sound a little strange, but in many areas such solutions will significantly increase the level of comfort. For example, you can write a lecture in a notepad or notebook, and then bring the device to the tablet display and highlight the desired text or make a short note on the slide for clarity.

Designers or artists will also like MSI Pen 2 – you can sketch a rough version of the drawing on paper to understand how it should look like in the end, and then pick up a tablet or laptop with a touch screen to draw the same thing already in a graphics editor. These are just some of the possible scenarios for using the gadget, and journalists who tried the stylus at the presentation said that it works just fine. The gadget uses MPP2.6 technology and supports 4096 degrees of pressure (in the case of input on the touch screen), and five minutes of charging from the mains is enough for ten hours of full-fledged work.

At the same time, the device even boasts haptic feedback, and the design itself, which allows you to work with the touch screen and paper at the same time, is actually extremely simple. The fact is that there are graphite tips inside the MSI Pen 2 stylus – the design resembles ordinary mechanical pencils with interchangeable rods that many used at school. When the graphite rod runs out, the user installs a new one in its place and continues to work or study. MSI uses the same mechanism, but the difference is that the stylus has a very small tip, so it doesn’t leave marks on the display while you type.

Employees of the information publication The Verge stated that the cunning solution of MSI engineers really works – they personally tested the new stylus and did not notice any traces of graphite or even minor scratches on the tablet, while the device wrote more than comfortably on paper. And this is taking into account that the test took place at the end of the day, when the gadget was tested by hundreds or even thousands of visitors to the exhibition. The only problem with the gadget is that the only laptop (MSI Creator Z17) that comes with this stylus costs $2999. But, probably, in the future, the accessory can be purchased separately.
