Reddit users reported about emails from the collapsed Mt.Gox exchange, in which the administration confirmed the addresses of crypto wallets for receiving compensation.
The mailing concerned Kraken and Bitstamp clients who were required to provide their addresses to receive payments in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
According to the letter, centralized exchanges will act as an “agent” to accept payments from Mt.Gox. If the account is disabled or frozen, no compensation will be paid.
However, some redditors are complaining that they still haven't received confirmation.
According to the Mt.Gox plan, payments will continue until 2024 inclusive. The platform will distribute assets of 142,000 BTC, 143,000 BCH and 69 billion Japanese yen.
At the end of 2023, Reddit users in the r/mtgoxinsolvency thread reported that the trading platform began sending compensation in yen through PayPal.
In November, platform trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi assured clients that payments would begin before the end of the year. He noted that compensation to creditors is planned to be carried out in several tranches, including basic, early lump sum and intermediate repayment.
Let us remind you that Mt.Gox clients have been waiting for the return of their funds for ten years. The civil rehabilitation process started in June 2018. In 2021, a Tokyo court approved the exchange plan.
The trustee submitted a proposal for reimbursement in December 2020. Details of the plan became known in January 2021, and in February the court approved it for a subsequent vote.
It started on May 31 and ended on October 20. The refund initiative was supported by about 83% of exchange users.
