The prosecutor of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso Luiz Eduardo Figueiredo Rocha e Silva was arrested last Thursday (10) suspected of killing a homeless man in Cuiabá, state capital. The victim was identified as Ney Muller Alves Pereira, 42.
According to the Civil Police, the crime occurred last night (9) in the Boa Esperança neighborhood. The prosecutor was driving along Edgar Vieira Avenue as he called the victim who, as he approached the vehicle, was hit by a firearm shot. The man died on the spot.

On Thursday afternoon, the server performed at the Specialized Homicide and Personnel Protection Police Station (DHPP). He attended the police unit in the presence of his lawyer and presented the firearm and the vehicle that were used in the crime.
After being questioned, Deputy Edson Pick drawn up the arrest of the crime of qualified homicide, for futile reasons and committed by ambush.
Also according to the Civil Police, the crime would have been motivated by the fact that Ney allegedly damaged Luiz’s car.
In a statement, the Legislative Assembly regretted what happened and said it will take appropriate administrative measures in relation to the case.
“He has voluntarily presented himself and the Mato Grosso Legislative Assembly will take all the necessary administrative measures. Everyone is entitled to broad defense, but we cannot accept or trivialize a type of crime like this. A life has been reaped and we cannot admit it,” said the president of the Mato Grosso Legislative Assembly, Max Russi.
