Mtv Ema 2022: all the winners (and the Nuclear Tactical Penguins beat the Måneskin)

Now that the masks and the spacing are a distant memory, the MTV EMA are back in the name of contact, the uncontrollable screams of the public and, of course, live music. On an evening when – as often happens in the world of MTV – nothing is left to chance and improvisation, to triumph is above all Taylor Swift, who takes home four “very heavy” prizes: best artist, video, pop and longform video, demonstrating how much his talent, which started under the country star, also shines in Europe despite Tay-Tay never taking one of his tours to Italy. Good result also for Nicki Minaj, awarded for the best song and hip hop, while a bit of bitterness for Harry Styles, who from seven nominations manages to take home only the award for best live.

As for Italy, the miracle of 2021 unfortunately does not repeat itself: a Düsseldorf, in fact, Måneskin did not reconfirm their award in the Best Rock category by selling it to Muse. The Devon trio, considered among the best active rock bands in the world, beat the competition thanks to the album Will of the Peoplewhich allowed the group to return to the scene after a four-year hiatus. In the Best Italian Act category of the MTV EMA 2022, instead, the Nuclear Tactical Penguins win, who beat fierce competitors such as Blanco, Ariete, Elodie and Måneskin themselves, confirming that they are experiencing a moment that could not be more golden, marked by the success of a summer tour of 300,000 people and the landing at stadiums in 2023. “When you they write songs it is important to have an open mind and be influenced by everything you listen to because music is the most cosmopolitan and fluid art there is – says the leader Riccardo Zanotti -. Being recognized at a European level flatters us: it makes us feel European citizens, as well as Italians ».

For the rest, the Mtv Ema 2022, led by the effervescent conduct of the director of Thor: Love and Thunder Taila Waititi and her partner Rita Ora – awarded during the evening for the best look – gives, as usual, several live performances: from that of David Guetta and Bebe Rexha at the opening – in the name of the Eiffel 65 and, therefore, a bit of Italy – to that of the One Republicin great shape for the performance on the notes of I Ain’t Worrieddirectly from the soundtrack of Top Gun: Maverick. Space, however, also for Stormzy and Debbie and the romantic Firebabesung immersed in hundreds of swaying red lights, but also for the Kalush Orchestra, the Ukrainian band that won the Eurovision Song Contest that paints the MTV Ema 2022 building with yellow and blue like the colors of Ukraine, which allow shortly afterwards to (re) address the delicate theme of war thanks to the intervention on the stage of the activists Lina Deshvar, Anna Kutova and Anfisa Yakovina who organized assistance to the people most affected by the Russian invasion. The MTV EMAs are (also) this.
