Munich relaxes measures on coronavirus again

The strictest restrictive measures in force in Munich from Easter Sunday will be relaxed again on Wednesday.

After exceeding the critical frequency limit of 100 cases on Good Friday (of the catholics) in the capital of Bavaria for the third consecutive day, on Easter Sunday the so-called “emergency brake” came into force to deal with its spread coronavirus.

But because the frequency index was below 100 for three days from Holy Saturday until Easter Monday, the stricter measures will cease to apply from Wednesday, according to a statement from the city of Munich. The night curfew will no longer apply and shops, museums and the zoo will be allowed to reopen.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the incidence of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days in Munich was 96.1 on Easter Monday. On Easter Sunday the price was 94.5. RKI notes, however, that the number of infections on public holidays may be announced late by health authorities and that fewer citizen diagnostic tests may have been performed.

New cases of coronavirus have been on the rise throughout Bavaria for some time now. A large part of the districts and urban areas of the state in question has exceeded the value of 100 cases. First in the ranking today, Monday, was the city of Hoff with 469.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

The Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia demands a short and strict lockdown

Strict and short lockdown – “bridge” is demanded by the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia and the leader of the Christian Democratic Party ‘Armin Lasset, in order to “save time until the cases decrease and the vaccinations increase”.

According to Mr. Lassett, physical presence at work and personal contacts should be kept to a minimum and a traffic ban should be imposed during the evening and night hours. “Germany is in a state of emergency and we need to act immediately. “In May or June we could enter another phase,” he noted.

The Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia also requested that the relevant consultations of the Chancellor with the heads of state governments take place on April 12, but this time in person and not by teleconference. The measures, he said, should be properly prepared and implemented throughout the country, even where the number of cases is low. On the question of whether the federal state should concentrate more powers to control the pandemic by effectively removing them from the states, Mr Lassett explained that he would have no objection, but argued that the process could move forward. faster if decisions were taken jointly with local governments.

Last week, Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed dissatisfaction with the reluctance of many state governments to impose the “emergency brake” on their territories and warned that if the situation did not change, she would not hesitate to intervene, imposing a united rules across the country. “This is my oath of office. I have this obligation. “I will not remain a mere observer,” Merkel had said.
