Municipalities in Amazonas affected by drought receive bottles of sodium hypochlorite for water treatment

The Amazonas State Health Department (SES-AM), through the Amazonas State Health Surveillance Foundation, strategically carries out the delivery of bottles of sodium hypochlorite to around 28 cities facing the main effects of the drought in the state. The product is used to treat water for human consumption.

160,000 bottles of the solution were sent to municipalities located in the Juruá, Purus, Madeira and Alto Solimões river basins. The total number of bottles distributed between January and July this year is 4 million.

The delivery of hypochlorite to cities is carried out over the years.

The product should be dripped twice for every liter of water. It should be consumed after 30 minutes.

Furthermore, the administration of the input is reinforced with anticipation and planning by the foundation, so that the project can happen. This organization is carried out with the aim of ensuring that the most affected communities in the interior of the state receive the resources and support necessary to reduce the impacts of the drought.

According to the CEO of FVS-RCP, Tatyana Amorim, the vials are managed in a planned manner, so that there is control of the product with the needs of each city.

It is worth noting that the early distribution is strategic and aimed at those cities that suffer the most from the impacts of the drought. This year, the cities that received the product early were Apuí, Amaturá, Atalaia do Norte, Borba, Benjamin Constant, Beruri, Boca do Acre, Carauari, Canutama, Eirunepé, Envira, Fonte Boa, Guajará, Humaitá, Ipixuna, Itamarati, Jutaí, Juruá, Lábrea, Manicoré, Nova Olinda do Norte, Novo Aripuanã, Pauini, Santo Antonio do Içá, São Paulo de Olivença, Tabatinga, Tonantins and Tapauá.
