THE The Municipality of Athens supports 111 small businesses in the historic center with 2.3 million euros, enabling them to proceed with the energy upgrade of their infrastructure and equipment and – in this way – to reduce their energy costs and operating costs.
According to the relevant announcement of the Municipality, this is the initiative “Athens Business Green Toolkit”, which was announced last May by the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens (EATA) and is part of a comprehensive strategy of the Municipal Authority Bakoyannis to support local economy and at the same time create the best conditions for a sustainable and resilient city.
As part of the action, small Athenian companies that submitted applications for financing based on their investment plans (budget from 5,000 to 30,000 euros), are funded by the Municipality of Athens for 80% of their total investment, in order to upgrade energy and operating the business.
This means, it is emphasized in the announcement of the Municipality, facilities more “environmentally friendly” with reduced energy consumption and consequently, by securing significant resources for the company itself. The initiative is implemented through EATA and is part of the package of measures with a total budget of 40 million euros, announced in November 2020 by the Municipal Authority to support businesses operating within the intervention area of ​​the Integrated Spatial Investment (LPF) of the Municipality.
