The Moscow City Court ruled that a resident of the capital should give the Irkutsk power engineers much more than she had already paid for the electricity. The woman was engaged in underground mining in the village of Ust-Ordynsky.

In four months in 2021, the household consumed 530,000 kWh. The woman tried to justify herself: the energy was spent on heating the outdoor pool using four electric boilers with a capacity of 100 kW. However, the power engineers presented a calculation: if a pool of this volume is boiled every day, then the electricity consumption will be 60,000 kWh per month. And to maintain a comfortable temperature, energy consumption would be four times lower.

The court sided with Irkutskenergosbyt and stated that the amount of energy consumed was not comparable to that required to heat the pool. Therefore, he ordered the Muscovite to pay 870,000 rubles as a recalculation from the preferential tariff for electricity for individuals to commercial, for legal entities.

Power engineers believe that miners are engaged in commercial activities, therefore they cannot pay for electricity at household tariffs.

Earlier it was reported that the number of lawsuits from power engineers of the Irkutsk region against underground miners exceeded a thousand. Of these, 600 claims have already been satisfied, and the amount of compensation has exceeded 260 million rubles.
