According to the investigation, Malov launched the project in 2022. Together with accomplices, he created an investment group in the messenger in NFT. Malov called himself a successful cryptocurrency businessman and investor, and, getting acquainted with potential victims in various business meetings, he attracted them into his project.
“Malov reported that he was involved in the raising of funds to the NFT project, indicating that his acquaintance-a well-known artist-creates and places on various resources of NFT-charters, after which their price increases and subsequently you can make a profit,” the Moscow prosecutor’s office writes.
If the victim of the “Cryptoinvestor” showed interest in investments, he added it to the chat, where he persuaded to transfer funds. After receiving the cryptocurrency, Malov stopped contacting. In total, five victims were recorded, and the amount of stolen funds exceeded 70 million rubles.
The 35-year-old businessman bought real estate for 30 million rubles and the Lamborghini car for 27 million rubles. The court found him guilty of fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and the legalization (laundering) of money (part 4 of article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Malova was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony.
Earlier it was reported that Valeria Fedyakina, known under the Bitmama brand, could face up to 10 years in prison.
