Musical “Rocky Horror Show” returns to Brazil to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary

Success around the world, the musical “Rocky Horror Show” is back in Brazil to celebrate the 50 years from the film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” .

Released in 1975, the horror-comedy feature film became a pop culture landmark and came after the success of the musical.

The Brazilian cast show is inspired by the original version from London, England and tells the story of Brad and Janet, a newlywed couple, who have to deal with a flat tire on a cold and stormy night. Desperate for help, they find a castle and decide to ask to use the phone. When they enter, they are greeted by a series of atypical and wild characters, as well as the eccentric Dr. Frank N. Furter, a doctor, biochemist and transformationist.

Amid lightning and thunder, Frank invites Brad, Janet and viewers into his laboratory, where he reveals his newest creation: Rocky, a muscular, tanned human being meticulously molded in the laboratory. From there, Brad and Janet are drawn into a surreal and mysterious journey through the rooms of the ancient castle, filled with dance and song.

“Rocky Horror Show” is scheduled to premiere October 5th at Teatro Viradalata, in São Paulo. Tickets for the show vary from R$50 to R$250 and are available on Sympla official website.
