Businessman Elon Musk met for the third time with Argentine President Javier Milei, this Monday (23), in New York, where the United Nations General Assembly is taking place, and expressed interest in investing and supporting Argentina.
In a video reposted by Milei on the social network X, it is possible to see Musk smiling, wearing a cap and greeting the Argentine president, his sister and secretary general of the Casa Rosada, Karina Milei, the country’s Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo and other members of the government. They also appear posing for a photo with their thumbs up in a “thumbs up” sign.
According to the Argentine Presidency, both spoke about the process of deregulation of the economy carried out by Milei, the implementation of an incentive regime for large investors and the application of the mega-bill with economic reforms that the Argentine president managed to get the Legislature to approve in the first half of the year.
“My companies are actively looking for ways to invest in and support Argentina,” Musk wrote on Tuesday (24) on the social network X, which he owns. He also owns the company Neuralink, a brain chip startup, xAI, an artificial intelligence company, and Tesla, which develops high-performance electric cars.
This is Milei’s third meeting with Musk since the Argentine president began his term in December last year. Since then, both have shown mutual admiration and support. In the last meeting, after the conflict between Musk and Minister Alexandre de Moraes began, the Argentine president offered support to the businessman in the conflict with the Brazilian judiciary.
Earlier this month, Milei told a right-wing gathering that blocking access to social network X could only be supported by a “tyrant.”
He also stated that the intention of blocking Musk’s network is to “prohibit the space where citizens freely exchange their ideas.”
