“My father was a victim, like little Ermanno Lavorini”: Alessandro Meciani tells his battle for the truth

It will be done, especially since this is the truth: Adolfo MecianiAlessandro’s father, in the early months of 1969, was the main suspect of a crime that had shaken the whole of Italy, that of Ermanno Lavorinia 12 -year -old boy who on January 31, 1969 disappears from Viareggio and was then found dead, underlying in the sand of Marina di Vecchiano.

We began to talk about a tour of homosexuals and pedophiles that did loyal things in the Pineta di Viareggio and Marco Baldisseri, a boy who was then sixteen years old, and who also frequented that pine forest, indicated Adolfo Meciani as the kidnapper and murderer of little Ermanno.

It was not true: instead it was Marco Baldisseri, together with two other boys, driven by who knows what pseudo-political motivations linked to the youth monarchist front, to have killed the child.

Adolfo Meciani, however, in the meantime he was going to prison, in the meantime he had suffered the pillory, in the meantime he had killed himself, due to the pain and for the injustice suffered. He died on June 24, 1969.

Today his son, who at the time of the facts was 1 year and a half, is councilor for Tourism of Viareggio, a city, therefore, from which he did not escape, in fact, waving, right there, his surname.

Why did you decide to stay in a city that had noticed your father, in a city that brings the traces of such a painful fact for her?
«I believe that in this question there is the essence of the whole story. In life half of things are those that happen to you, and half are those that derive from how you react. Why did I stay? I have always had a firm point, that of rehabilitating the surname that I carry, always clearly bringing out that my father, in addition to little Ermanno Lavorini, was another victim of that well -known story. I wanted to keep the lighthouse on, continue to shed light on that story. I certainly could not escape. Indeed, I had to show myself, with my commitment and my behavior, a good person, serious, correct, professional, keeping a good memory of my father and the surname that I carry ».

But how did Viareggio behave with her?
“It was a surprise. There have been two different moments. At first, when there was the explosion of the affair with the unfounded accusations against my father, the city certainly reacted with violence and hardness. There have even been attempts to lynching the carabinieri car that brought my father to the barracks. Viareggio was very under pressure, to use it mildly. Then, later, when I grew up and really started attending the city, in the 80s, Viareggio returned me the opportunity to have many friends, who knew my story well and who protected me and defended me in front of those who allowed themselves to appreciate my surname. I grew up with people who, together with me, managed the memory of what happened in that 1969. I have never experienced inadequacy or embarrassment ».

And what do you do today in the city?
“Many things! I am an agent of the general insurance companies and this for me was certainly a reason for pride. Today I am a councilor for tourism. I was elected in 2020 and that was a great moment of visibility for me, which allowed me to be, do and say the things I have inside and show the values ​​in which I believe. I was missing to take a degree, which in the end I managed to do last year, graduating in business communication ».

But did not the temptation come to escape instead of immersing himself in the same places?
«No, for me it was important to play the game in the same field. And I wanted to demonstrate how politics, in this city, is something high and important. It is certainly not that idea carried out by that group of unfortunate kids and very skilled minds who, in 1969, put my father in the middle. I do not refer to specific political parties, but they are a civic list ».

You are councilor for tourism, Versilia has experienced, with the compass, golden times. What is you doing to restore luster to this area?
«Certainly Viareggio is an important seaside destination for our country: it has a tourist flow greater than million and 300,000 presences per year. We must be able to meet the requests of these tourists, with an offer of hotels, parking lots, restaurants and shops, which are up to the target of people who arrive. In addition to the number, we are also working on quality, trying to overjuctioning tourism, making sure that it is not concentrated only in the three summer months, working, for example, more on the carnival and on the spring bridges ».

His father managed the bathing establishment: there is still in Viareggio?
«Yes, there is still and always manages my family. Most wife and daughter mostly work there, who is now 18 years old and is trying to understand what she wants to do with her life. I, on Saturdays and Sundays I remove the role of the councilor and put the bathing dress. It is a place that I am very tied to: it is from the late 1920s that the Mecians manage it: it all started when a distant relative of mine, during the Abyssinia war, lost one leg and the state, as compensation, gave him the granting of this piece of beach. And so this adventure started ».

In addition to the bath, peace, when there was the story of its dad, a lot of talk about the pine forest of Viareggio, as a place where trafficking and unwanted encounters happened. What is that of that place today?
«Like everywhere, in Viareggio the theme of security is a central theme for the management of the city. Having said that, in my opinion you have to make a distinction: one account is real security, one account is the perceived security. The numbers that come from the Prefecture tell us that the situation at the level of crimes actually made is, how to say, under control, there are even drop numbers. This is very different, however, is the perceived security, on which there is a lot of work: there is no doubt that there are many people who live on the margins, who end up choosing the path of delinquency, drug dealing, drugs, which is always difficult to manage. And we know that city gardens are often the exchange points. But the Pineta di Viareggio is a beautiful park close to the beach, a meeting place for families, where there are bars, restaurants, markets, bike rentals and play areas: we try to make it live as much as possible, supporting internal activities, precisely to prevent dark and uncontrolled corners, to make the activity more and more difficult for the drug dealers who wanted to illegal “.

There is no plaque, no street entitled, no sign in the city that you remember your father?
“No, there is nothing. I prefer to keep the memory high with what I do, with the actions, with my activities, with something alive ».

And those three who accused his father, Marco Baldisseri, Pietro Vangioni and Rodolfo della tin, today crosses them to Viareggio?
«They served their sentence and, once they went out, they made their lives, their paths. I know for sure that two are no longer in the city, the other I don’t know. I have never seen them again, never felt. Let’s say that in general I prefer to look ahead and think about how many beautiful things I can do in the memory and name of my father, rather than stirring in what has been. For many years, when we were talking about the Lavorini case on the epilogue, a little fog always remained, someone vaguely alluded to facts made by pedophiles. In recent years, this fog has thinned out and the reality of the facts has emerged strongly. For me it is good like this ».
