About multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune neurological disease that compromises the central nervous system and can lead to changes in vision, balance and muscle capacity.

According to the Ministry of Health, the disease mainly affects people between 18 and 55 years old.

The symptoms are related to changes in a brain structure called the myelin sheath, which surrounds the nerve cells through which the electrical impulses responsible for controlling the body’s functions pass.

Actress Cláudia Rodrigues, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2000, faces complications related to the disease.
