The 76-year-old politics is held since the day of the military coup, when the generals deposed his government on February 1, 2021, concluding Myanmar’s brief democratic phase. “This harsh conviction following fabricated charges is the latest example of that the armed forces of Myanmar are determined to eliminate all forms of opposition and to destroy freedoms, ”said Ming Yu Hah, Amnesty International’s deputy director of campaigns on Asia. “This farcical sentence is part of the repressive plan of the junta in power, which has seen over 1300 people killed and more than 10,000 arrests since February”.
