His star TikTok and his YouTube, Huey haha, a popular comic book creator with millions of video views and posts, passed away suddenly at the age of 22, leaving behind his 2-year-old daughter.
The death of Huey haha comes to add to a macabre trend of recent months with several online personalities losing their lives either mysteriously or after an accident. The Vietnamese-born Hui Ha (as his real name was) came from Stockton, California, and the news of his death was confirmed on Wednesday via social media.
“Rest in peace Hui Ha,” reads a post on his official Instagram. “Huey haha died on October 25, 2021. He loved and appreciated each and every one of his supporters.”
The official cause of his death has not yet been revealed and his thriving TikTok account – which garnered more than 4.5 million views – has been deleted, the Independent reported.
Mystery with the cause of his death
The social media star first appeared on the digital scene two years ago. He often took an unusual grill and became known for posting hundreds of small comic clips on the internet. In addition to his huge audience on TikTok, Huey gathered nearly 450,000 followers on YouTube and more than 200,000 followers on Instagram.
Rumors of his death first spread on Wednesday, with tributes from fans and colleagues flooding many platforms until it became a trend on Twitter.
The official cause of death of the young man has not been announced yet, but the account of his colleague Jackfoort, on Instagram, apart from being the first to spread the news that he died, stated that the cause is suicide. “It has been confirmed by various sources close to his family that Hugh committed suicide by shooting himself.”
However, there is no evidence to support this claim.
Huey had also spoken in the past about his difficult childhood. He said that his mother had a partner who physically and verbally abused him and that he grew up in a house with four sisters and a brother, but that very rarely there was food in the house. He also said he went to foster care when he was 13, but was fired because he smoked marijuana.
