MYTILINEOS and Siemens Energy undertake construction of new electricity plant in Poland

MYTILINEOS through the Sustainable Development Project (SES), in a joint venture with Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG and Siemens Energy sp. z oo, undertake the construction of a combined cycle power plant with natural gas (CCGT) in Grudziadz, Poland.

In particular, the consortium has signed a design, supply and construction (EPC) contract with SPV CCGT Grudziądz Sp z oo (wholly owned by Energa SA, part of the ORLEN Group) for the construction of a high-efficiency power plant, with 560 MW Combined Cycle Technology (CCGT) technology, consisting of a gas turbine and a condensing steam turbine, using a closed-loop mechanical circulation tower and construction of a gas installation in the area of ​​the power plant with accompanying infrastructure.

The CCGT station is expected to enter commercial operation within 38 months of signing the contract.

Energa Group is one of the largest energy companies in Poland and one of the largest suppliers of electricity in the country. Its main activities include the production, distribution and marketing of electricity and heat, as well as the trading of natural gas.

“The ORLEN Group is building a state-of-the-art low-carbon power plant that will increase Poland’s independence and security. “In GrudziÄ…dz, with the cooperation of distinguished partners, a modern CCGT will be built, which will complement the portfolio of renewable energy sources developed by the ORLEN Group”, said Daniel Obajtek, Chairman of the Board of PKN ORLEN – temporarily as Chairman of the Board of Energa.

The price for MYTILINEOS amounts to approximately 202 million euros.

This is the first energy project of the Sustainable Development Project of MYTILINEOS in Poland, after a long and successful series of construction projects, as well as thermal energy projects in Europe, Asia and Africa.
