A gold award for its business practices, based on its business model and overall strategy, was won by Mytilineos from the European agency for evaluating the performance of companies in the field of sustainable development, EcoVadis
90,000 public and private companies from 60 countries participate and are evaluated in EcoVadis, proving to the international investing public their commitment to sustainable development.
According to the company, according to the findings of the rating for Mytilineos, the company is in the top 10% of all companies rated by EcoVadis. The results per unit are also remarkable, as Mytilineos managed with its score to be included in the 4% of the top suppliers in its sector in the section “Labor Practices – Human Rights” and in the corresponding 6% of the top suppliers in the section “Environment”.
Mytilineos’s long-term commitment to Sustainable Development is reflected in the already significant ESG performance it has achieved, while making the most of the improvement proposals it receives from the international independent ESG benchmarking bodies in which it participates.
In this context, the Company implemented significant strategic actions in 2021, including the following:
• Developed and launched the implementation of specialized action plans for each key initiative that contributes to achieving the ambitious goals of reducing its carbon footprint.
• Joined the international CDP Climate Change Sustainable Development Initiative.
• Joined the official sponsors of the international initiative Task Force on Climate – Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
• Completed the 2nd cycle of training of key suppliers on corporate responsibility issues.
• Carried out for the 12th consecutive year the formal consultation process with its Social Partners.
• Implemented 16 social initiatives and programs at central level.
• Ensured that it improved or maintained its performance in almost all of the ESG evaluations in which it participated.
Since its inception in 2007, EcoVadis has evolved into the largest and most reliable provider of sustainable performance appraisals for companies through their policies, practices and results.
The evaluation methodology uses 21 criteria, which are grouped into four thematic sections: Environment, Work Practices & Human Rights, Business Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The criteria are based on international standards such as the Global Compact Principles, the International Labor Organization (ILO) treaties, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard.
Mytilineos, by participating in the evaluation platform of EcoVadis, aims to continuously improve its performance, with the ultimate goal of increasing its contribution to the UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. In fact, the Company has developed a sustainable development strategy harmonized with these Objectives, which determine the key priorities of Sustainable Development for the coming years.
