“During the meeting I had the opportunity to inform my friend the President about the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, but also the new problems we face as a result of Turkey’s effort to create new accomplishments.

An effort that is not limited to overthrowing the basis for a solution to the Cyprus problem as defined by the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions, but with the unacceptable claim that the basis for a solution should be the two states.

In addition, as I explained to President Abbas, there is an escalation of violations of international law both on land and at sea.

I also informed about the disappointment caused by the rejection of the confidence-building measures, having stressed the need for an immediate appointment, as was the decision of the UN Secretary-General, a special representative, so that the implementation of confidence-building measures and the mediation of the special representative the resumption, as soon as possible, of a creative dialogue that would lead us to a permanent solution to the Cyprus problem.

At this point, I would like to express my gratitude to the Republic of Cyprus, to the Cypriot people in general, for the attitude of the Palestinian State in the Cyprus problem and for its full support to our tireless efforts, but also to yours wherever you can. to end the current unacceptable situation and find a peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem.
