The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, had a meeting with the new Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Cyprus and his Deputy Special Adviser, Colin Stewart.
During the ceremonial first meeting they had, Mr. Anastasiadis welcomed Mr. Stewart to Cyprus and wished him success in his new duties.
The President of the Republic presented to the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General the positions of the Cypriot side, reiterating the will and commitment for the resumption of the negotiation process for the settlement of the Cyprus issue. He also briefed him extensively on the illegal actions of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot side at sea and on land and made special reference to the need to reverse the perpetrators in Varosi.
According to the government spokesman, Mario Pelekano, Mr. Anastasiadis accepted Mr. Stewart’s invitation to attend a reception that will be held by UNFICYP next Tuesday, December 14, at 19:00, in Ledra Palace.
