N. Anastasiadis met with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Betel, who is paying an official visit to Cyprus, today at the Presidential Palace.

Mr. Betel arrived in the morning at the Presidential Palace where he was officially received by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, while a military procession paid tribute. The National Anthems were rebuffed and the Prime Minister of Luxembourg laid a wreath at the statue of Makarios III.

This was followed by a private meeting between Mr. Anastasiadis and Mr. Betel, during which the Prime Minister was awarded a medal by the President of the Republic with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, while gifts were exchanged.

Handing over the Grand Necklace of the Order of Makarios III, the President of the Republic said that the award symbolizes the gratitude of Cyprus for the friendship shown by the Prime Minister, but also recognizes his leadership ability.

For his part, Mr. Betel awarded Mr. Anastasiadis with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Oak Crown for the trust and friendship between the two states, as he said, but also of themselves, noting that with The President of Cyprus has been cooperating constructively since 2013 to achieve European goals and aspirations.

Afterwards, the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister of Luxembourg attended extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.
