“My strength is the base of the party and those who want it proud and strong”, said Nikos Androulakis after his victory in the first round of the internal party elections for the election of president.
Speaking to reporters and to the applause of the party’s supporters, Mr. Androulakis stressed: “I will honor their mandate for renewal. The democratic party is returning, PASOK is returning.”
At the same time, he thanked the 270,000 citizens “who came and honored us in this massive process. I want to thank my fellow candidates, who with culture and unity, which is the legacy of Fofi Gennimata, participated in this process”.
According to the latest results, Nikos Androulakis leads with a percentage that is close to 37%, while George Papandreou and Andreas Loverdos are fighting for second place, with the former being ahead by about 2 points.
