The President of PASOK-Movement for Change visited in the morning Arkalochori and the earthquake-stricken residents, who are housed in small houses.
Mr. Androulakis accepted the bureaucratic problems faced by the earthquake victims as due to lack of staff the twelve thousand files of autopsies have not been evaluated and so far no reconstruction permit has been approved.
The President of PASOK-Movement for Change pointed out the need for the residents not to spend the second winter homeless, to reduce the reconstruction tariff and to give priority to rebuild their houses in order to restore the local economy.
The following is the full text of the statement of the President of PASOK-Movement for Change:
Seven months after the catastrophic earthquake, the residents of Arkalochori and all the earthquake-stricken areas are still counting their wounds. Trapped in a quagmire of bureaucracy, proving the oligarchy of the government. To date, not a single reconstruction permit has been approved.
We are here to express our solidarity and to push for this oligarchy to be addressed through the hiring of more engineers, so that the twelve thousand files for autopsies in buildings can be evaluated without further delay.
To push for a price revision in the reconstruction invoice because the price increases have made things very difficult and of course to separate the “green house” from the uninhabitable in order to compensate the household goods as the need to compensate them is tacitly rejected.
Compensation and business support should not only concern Arkalochori but all earthquake-stricken areas. It is the only way for the people of our village and the wider area to return home faster and to economic normalcy.
