N. Androulakis: Tsipras and Mitsotakis, two prime ministers who failed miserably

The president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, visited the shopping center of Patras in the morning. He spoke with shopkeepers and citizens with an emphasis on the issue of accuracy, reiterating the need to take immediate measures to support Greek society. Specifically, Mr. Androulakis insisted on his proposal to impose a ceiling on the adjustment clause and the price of the invoice as well as taxation of the super profits of large companies.

Regarding the discussion on post-election cooperation, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change stressed that the country needs a strong progressive policy.

“Both Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Mitsotakis are two Prime Ministers who have failed miserably and the Democratic Party is not going to give a lifeline to either of them in this new beginning, its strong new beginning. And here from Achaia, from Patras, it is clear that inequalities are galloping, that accuracy scans the incomes of Greek citizens, creates huge problems of competitiveness and unfortunately no decisions are made according to the problem. There should be an immediate ceiling in the adjustment clause, a ceiling on the price of the invoice, taxation of the super profits of large companies. The European Commission estimates with data that their super profits for the whole of Europe in 2022 will be around 200 billion euros, if we do not do something. And of course, the reduction of VAT on basic goods. The state in recent months, from rising prices, is profiting at the expense of the citizen, has multiple revenues compared to the budget.

We need to make it clear that the country needs a strong progressive policy. Another plan, from the one implemented by the New Democracy government. And because a lot is heard about collaborations, I want to be clear. Both Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Mitsotakis are two Prime Ministers who have failed miserably and the Democratic Party, in this new beginning, its strong new beginning, is not going to give a lifeline to either one or the other.

We want a strong mandate to have the power and to impose the ideas and the political program of the social democracy for another page for the Greek people. With more opportunities for all, fewer inequalities and greater prospects for the young people of our country.

Elections are the prerogative of the respective Prime Minister. Whenever they happen, we will be ready with competitive ballots, with a complete plan, with the virtue of consistency and responsibility, without populism to offer a real alternative to the Greek people. Because the game of polarization, set up by Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras to serve their petty partisan interests, does not allow a strong and fruitful public debate. We become protagonists again and not regulators as some people want. Protagonists to impose a real public dialogue, which puts the problems of the Greek people on the table with the real correlations, with the real data, without the discord of the previous years and solves them for the benefit of the whole Greek people.
