Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias was received by Czech President Milos Zeman during his visit to Prague.
At the focus of the meeting were the strengthening of bilateral political and commercial relations, the cooperation between Greece and the Czech Republic within the EU, in the light of the Czech presidency of the Council of the EU, the European perspective of the Western Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean, according to a relevant Ministry of Foreign Affairs post on twitter.
“I had the honor to meet the President of the Czech Republic, Mr. Zeman, to hear his views on the great crisis facing Europe after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on the price of energy, on the problems of the European Union” , noted Mr. Dendias in his statement after the meeting.
“But also to inform him about the special problems of our own region, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Turkish provocation, Turkish revisionist views that constitute a revisionist narrative to a degree similar to the revisionist narrative emanating from the Russian side.”
As he previously mentioned, he was received by the president of the Senate and the foreign affairs committee of the Senate of the Czech Republic, “where I had the opportunity to exchange views on the current crisis, and to explain to them the Greek point of view on recent developments and to inform them about what we Greeks are facing in the Eastern Mediterranean”.
Soon after, the foreign minister will participate in the Informal Council of EU foreign ministers, the Gymnich.
There, as Mr. Dendias mentioned, the agenda will deal, on the one hand, with the issues created by the Russian invasion of Ukraine – there will be a lunch tomorrow with the presence of the Ukrainian foreign minister and the foreign ministers of Moldova and Georgia. “But, apart from that, we will also discuss issues concerning Africa, relations with the EU, and generally the challenges facing Europe as we head into winter,” he concluded.
