N. Dendias will be in Prague tomorrow for the informal meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will be in Prague tomorrow, Tuesday, August 30, in order to participate in the informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the member states of the European Union (Gymnich).

The main topics to be discussed during this informal ministerial meeting are Russia’s invasion of Ukraine (Tuesday, 30.08.2022) and EU relations with the states of the African continent (Wednesday, 31.08.2022), according to relevant announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of the work, a working lunch will take place on Wednesday with the participation of the foreign ministers of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, where the European perspective of these states and the future of the Eastern Partnership will be discussed.

On the sidelines of Gymnich, the foreign minister is expected to have a bilateral meeting with his Estonian counterpart Urmas Reinsalu.

As part of his stay in Prague, the foreign minister will hold a series of bilateral meetings with top Czech officials on Tuesday.

In particular, he is expected to be received by the President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, he will meet with the president of the Senate Miloš Vystrčil, with the president of the Senate Foreign Relations and Defense Committee Pavel Fischer, as well as with the president Marek Ženíšek and members of the foreign relations committee of the Parliament.

The foreign minister’s discussions with the President and other officials will focus on bilateral relations, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the cooperation of the two countries in the European Union, as stated in the relevant announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is noted that the Czech Republic has assumed the presidency of the Council of the EU from July 1, 2022.
