He admitted that he made a false statement about his travels before Novak Djokovic arrived in Australia, through his post on his instagram account, after the relevant revelations, as videos were shown of him in Spain, while he was supposed to be in Serbia. The Serbian tennis player admitted that he made a false statement in a travel paper upon entering Australia but threw it in his agenda.
But that was not all. He admitted that he gave an interview to a journalist while he was positive about the virus, now acknowledging … that he was wrong.
In a statement posted on Instagram, he said his agent made a mistake when filling out a form on his recent travel history.
His entry form stated that he had not traveled 14 days before his arrival in Australia on 6 January. However, information states that the 34-year-old had traveled to Serbia and then to Spain before the trip. “My agent sincerely apologizes for the administrative error in noting the wrong context,” he wrote. “This was a human error and certainly not intentional.”
In an Instagram post, Djokovic also admitted that he met a French journalist last month when he learned he had a Covid-19. He described the decision as a “crisis mistake”. However, he said that other reports about his appearance in public, after his positive test on December 16, were “misinformation”.
“I felt compelled to go ahead and do the L ‘Equipe interview, as I did not want to disappoint the journalist, but I made sure to socially distance myself and wear a mask, except when they were taking my picture,” he said. “As a matter of fact, this was a crisis mistake and I accept that I should have rescheduled this commitment.”

His statement comes as the Australian government considers whether to deport him. Djokovic – who hopes to defend his title at the Australian Open starting Monday (January 17th) – saw his visa revoked by authorities upon arrival amid questions about his exclusion from the coronavirus vaccination.
On Monday, however, a judge overturned the decision and allowed the tennis star to stay in Melbourne.
