“Mr. Mitsotakis continues to turn his back on filthy lucre,” explains the press representative of SYRIZA-P.S. Nasos Iliopoulos, stressing that “according to a SELPE survey, one in two citizens is forced to cut even basic goods in order to cope with electricity bills”.
In fact, he accuses the government of “continuing the mockery with the power pass, since nine out of ten applications for the remaining 600,000 households are rejected”.
Here is the full statement:
“At a time when, according to the SELPE survey, one in two citizens is forced to cut even basic goods in order to cope with the electricity bills, Mr. Mitsotakis continues to turn his back on profiteering.
Greece is first in the electricity increase for businesses and third worst for households. At the same time, we have the most expensive petrol in all of Europe, with salaries half the price of other European countries.
Mr. Mitsotakis refuses self-evident measures such as the reduction of the VAT on fuel and the VAT on basic food items. It also continues the mockery of the power pass, since nine out of ten applications for the remaining 600,000 households are rejected.
Mr. Mitsotakis shows his inadequacy to support workers, pensioners and the middle class and his dependence on the interests of the few”.
