N. Iliopoulos: It is frightening for the Republic that Mr. Mitsotakis declares ignorance about the EYP

“Approximately 60% of the respondents in today’s youth poll attribute the responsibility for the wiretapping to Kyriakos Mitsotakis”, stressed the press representative of SYRIZA-PS, Nasos Iliopoulos, in an interview with the MEGA TV station, in the wake of yesterday’s debate in the Parliament .

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s statement in the Parliament yesterday, he said: “Yesterday, Mr. Mitsotakis said something scary, he said that he does not know what is happening in the EYP – at the same time that he has the EYP under his supervision. It is also scary to hear that a political leader was monitored for reasons of national security. The reason for national security probably ended in the quarter the KINAL elections ended. The same “national danger” appears to have been Thanasis Koukakis, the journalist who was being watched after a Financial Times report on blackwashing money in Greece, when the Mitsotakis government gave immunity to bank executives”.

Continuing, he said that it shows guilt that “With the amendment they passed, they abolished the obligation of the EYP to inform the ADAE” and added that “it is hypocritical for the government to constantly call Nikos Androulakis to be informed about his monitoring, since, based on the amendment who voted, this is illegal”.

He referred to today’s GPO poll published in the News, saying: “68% of citizens answer that the issue of surveillance is important or very important. A second critical element of the poll is that 59.1% of respondents say there is responsibility Mitsotakis on the subject of wiretapping. And 32.9% of ND voters say that Kyriakos Mitsotakis is responsible. Yesterday, Mr. Mitsotakis addressed half of his speech to the ND parliamentary group itself, to try to close rifts.” .

He referred to energy accuracy which is considered a central problem by a large percentage of respondents: “today Greece pays an average price of 453 euros per megawatt hour, while Spain pays 160. At EU level, we have the largest increase in electricity for businesses and the third largest for households. The 2 billion that the government now gives to providers, it gives to those who steal from the citizens, while it has taken it from the citizens first”.
