N. Kerameos: More than 16,000 teacher appointments in the last two years

More than 16,000 teachers have been appointed during the last 2.5 years, Minister of Education Niki Kerameos told SKAI.

“For 12 years in our country not a single teacher had been appointed. In the two years of Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis we have appointed 16,200 teachers in the midst of very difficult conditions. SYRIZA did not make any appointments.”

Regarding ASEP, he stressed that the special education tables will be opened in the coming weeks so that teachers can register, however he did not specify the schedule of new recruitments.

He said, however, that the government is working hard to support teachers with appointments as well as training on issues such as climate change and road safety to teach in schools.

He also focused on the voucher that teachers will receive for the purchase of technological equipment: “Over 160,000 teachers will receive for the first time a horizontal voucher for the supply of technological equipment. It complements the corresponding allowance received by more than 500,000 children.”

Finally, he added that from September, interactive whiteboards will be included in the classroom, for video projection and digital design, while 177,000 sets of robotics have been ordered, as he said.
