“Europe needs to provide humanitarian corridors, but in an organized way, with rules,” pointed out the Minister of Migration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis, speaking at the Economist conference.
“At the same time,” the minister said, “we cannot allow human traffickers to decide who comes to live in Europe.”
Europe “was ready to show solidarity whenever it was needed”, underlined Mr Mitarakis and added that “we must be careful when migration is used as a geopolitical challenge”.
Finally, referring to the events of March 2020, the Minister of Immigration spoke of an “organized attempt by Turkey to take advantage of the fact that Europe has a welcoming policy on immigration and to question our national sovereignty”.
