N. Panagiotopoulos from Tallinn: Do not instrumentalize migration and refugee flows

The Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, sent a clear message not to instrumentalize the migration and refugee flows by state actors, from Tallinn, Estonia, where he is participating in the 15th Annual Baltic Conference on Defense.

“We are on the European border,” said N. Panagiotopoulos, “side by side, as European partners, united with Poland in the face of security challenges and the new particular security challenge it faces.”

“We have had,” he added, “a similar situation in the past on our northeastern borders. It has many similarities to the current situation and what counts is that migration and refugee flows are being instrumentalized by state actors seeking geopolitical or economic benefits.”

“Thus,” he stressed, “we must all take strong action against these practices by state actors.”

The Greek minister participates in the conference as a speaker of the key unit under the title: “NATO’s new Strategic Concept” (NATO’s new Strategic Concept)

On the sidelines of the conference, N. Panagiotopoulos made a joint statement on Immigration together with his Estonian counterpart Kale Laanet, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Lithuania Margiris Abukeviσιius and the Undersecretary of the United Armed Forces X.
