NABE Survey: Businesses See US Less Likely to Enter Recession

Early Monday morning in Europe, the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) released the details of its January 4-11 survey on business conditions in the United States, while allaying fears of recession in the world’s largest economy.

“The The probability that the United States is already in recession or falls into one this year has fallen in the past three months to 56% from a nearly two-thirds chance“, highlighted NABE according to Reuters.

Notable conclusions

About 53% of those surveyed said they had a more than equal expectation that the US would enter a recession in the next 12 months, while 3% indicated they thought the country was already in one.

According to the previous survey, released in October, 64% of respondents indicated that the US economy was already in recession or had a more than even chance of entering a recession in the next 12 months.

The survey also showed respondents expected inflation to ease in their companies and industries, with a forward-looking gauge of prices charged falling 10 percentage points from the last survey to the lowest reading since October 2020.
