Singer Nana Caymmi will be veiled in Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro from 8:30 am this Friday (2). At 84, she died on Thursday (1).

During the 1960s, she became even better known and made appearances on television programs with other celebrities of the time, such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Toquinho and Maria Bethânia.
The power of Nana Caymmi’s voice was recognized in 1976, when she received the Villa-Lobos trophy for best singer of the year, by the Brazilian Association of Disc Producers.
Throughout his career, Nana Caymmi was nominated for four Latin Grammys. She won in her first nomination in 2004 for the album “For Caymmi, from Nana, Dori and Danilo”, in the category of best samba/pagoda album.
