Nancy Brilli to Verissimo: “I suffered from self-harm for a long time”

Nancy Brilli, guest at very truewanted to talk about a condition, self-harm, which he suffered from for years. “It’s not nice to evoke though I have been self-harming for a long time in my life and it is something that I recognized very late, then I understood what it is with analysis and many readings, knowing intelligent people who explained it to me: not being able in any world to control my emotions and suffering, I projected it onto something that I could handle it. Being able to handle the pain and suffering seemed easier to me. A person who hurts himself does not feel pain after a while.

And since unfortunately there are many young people who practice self-harm and they underestimate it. I feel like saying to look for someone, even when you feel absolutely only one you find it (listen to you, ed.), but it doesn’t have to be an equal who always gives you reason. I was treated in the family as the strange one who wants to be the center of attention, it is not like that, it is an absolutely different thing, it is the need to manage the pain otherwise you are overwhelmed. I would put lessons in schools, there is a psychologist in the school but the boy does not go, instead it must be the opposite, go and talk about this type of suffering which is so widespread ».

Silvia Toffanin asked her who had helped her to overcome it and the 57-year-old Roman artist of Ukrainian origin replied: “A lady I discovered after being a psychologist, who gave me books to read, a friend of mine but (they done, ed.) as well as the readings. It came back to me but at some point luckily before managing it and then deleting it“.
