Torpedoed after just three days of work. Theresa Dawes, hired as a nanny for Boris Johnson’s children, was fired very early by Carrie, wife of the former English prime minister. There babysitter, 59 years oldhired through an agency, had come specifically from Zimbabwe for this assignment, but Mrs Johnson only allowed her 15 minutes to pack and disappear from his sight (and his life).
The reason? «A glass of wine», as the babysitter told the Daily Mirror. His fault would be that of having sipped a glass of rosé with Boris Johnson to toast the birth of little Frank Alfred Odysseuswho came into the world on July 5th, the eighth child for the British politician, the third he had with his current wife.
Theresa, 59, a blonde lady with blue eyes, insisted that nothing malicious happened with the host, and that their conversation was focused on the politics of his native Zimbabwe. «Then we discovered that we were born a few days apart. We went for a little walk and he called the other children, Wilfred and Romy, to meet me. He also showed me where he intended to put a new swimming pool.”
On the day of the toast, Carrie was still in the hospital after giving birth, but his mother, Josephine, would attend the aperitif with Boris. So Mrs Johnson fired the nanny as soon as she got home.
The former prime minister apologized to her, stating that Carrie was hormonal and out of control, but Theresa has announced that she will consider taking legal action: by contract, she would be entitled to three months’ salary and severance pay.
“I know he had three wives, and many children,” Theresa says of Boris Johnson. «But I don’t care, It’s not my type. I don’t know if (Carrie) felt threatened. I don’t know what she had in mind. I was looking forward to helping a family take care of their new arrival, but I found myself in the middle of something else.” And again: «I was only there for three days and I couldn’t even hold the baby in my arms. I wish I had never been involved in this affair, it was a real nightmare. To be honest, it was a good rosé, but definitely not worth it.”
