Naples, thieves return Maui, the dog stolen from a disabled girl

The little dog Maui has returned home, and Miriam is finally happy again. Saturday evening, in Acerra, in the province of Naples, the thieves, forcing the window, entered the house where the little girl, a twelve year old with a motor disabilitylives with his family. They stole valuables, including jewelry and electronic devices (and the footboard Miriam uses to move), but the hardest blow was the kidnapping of Mauithe little German Spitz, Miriam’s inseparable companion. “When we saw that Maui was no longer there, the world collapsed on us,” explained the little girl’s mother. «For Miriam, Maui isn’t just a dog, he’s a member of the family».

Desperate, the family launched an appeal on social media, hoping someone could help find Maui. The news spread quickly, and in a short time hundreds of people shared the post, offering their help and all the support possible. The response from the community has been extraordinary. There were many who mobilized to look for the dog, organizing searches in the surrounding area and monitoring social media. Some offered rewards for helpful information, while others provided emotional support to the family. The story also caught the attention of local media, which further amplified the search.

After days of anxiety and worry, the family received an anonymous phone call. On the other end of the phone, a voice said: «We are thieves, but honest. We will return the dog, for the little girl». A few hours later, Maui was found in front of the house gate, safe and sound.

The dog’s return brought a smile back to Miriam’s face. The little girl, who had suffered greatly from his loss, was finally able to hug him again. “I can’t believe it, it’s a miracle,” said the little girl’s father, moved. The mother: «Seeing Miriam happy is all that matters to us».
