NASA publishes photo of the sun “smiling”; Look

“Say X!” NASA published this week a photo taken with a telescope in which the Sun appears to be smiling. The star was captured with dark spots that resemble two eyes and a mouth.

“The Solar Dynamics Observatory caught the Sun ‘smiling’,” the US space agency wrote on its official Twitter page.

NASA explains that, seen in ultraviolet light, these dark spots on the Sun are known as coronal holes and are regions where fast solar wind gushes out into space.

The agency studies the Sun to better understand how its ever-changing conditions influence Earth, other worlds, and space itself.
