NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover has discovered a strange black-and-white rock unlike any other on Mars, wowing scientists and the entire internet. The US space agency says this could be “a sign of exciting discoveries to come”. Team members spotted the rock “with features of unusual texture” in low-resolution images while browsing a spot with no noticeable structure. Upon closer examination, they measured the striated stone to be about 20cm wide and named it ‘Freya Castle’. “This data was revealed a few days later, after the Rover had already left the area.
