National energy system was restored 6 hours after blackout, says ministry

The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) reported, this Tuesday afternoon (15), that the national energy system was reestablished at 2:30 pm (Brasília time). According to the folder, there are occasional adjustments to be made by distributors in some cities.

An occurrence in the morning led to the electrical separation of the North and Northeast from the South and Southeast regions, with the opening of interconnections between these regions. According to the National Electric System Operator (ONS), at least 16,000 megawatts (MW) of energy were interrupted, mainly affecting the North and Northeast regions, as well as some locations in other regions of the country.

“The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), in an update on the Brazilian electrical service situation, informs that the national energy system was reestablished at 2:30 pm, with occasional adjustments to be made by distributors in some cities”, informed the folder.
