Analytical company National Research Group (NRG) conducted a survey among Americans and found that 57% want to become or already own digital assets.
Of the 1,500 respondents surveyed, 39% told NRG that they consider cryptocurrencies to be equivalent to securities rather than fiat currency.
The company’s analysts found that 54% of Americans are concerned that technology “threatens their rights and freedoms” and that they are unhappy with online advertising. 35% reported being unsure that they have control over their own personal data. Almost half of those surveyed believe that technology companies have accumulated too much power and should be disbanded.
13% of Americans reported being aware of Web3, and 54% of respondents heard the term for the first time. Many survey participants said that the “new version of the Internet” will make people’s lives better. A third of respondents said they were worried about the prospect of increasing activity of scammers.
NRG head of analytics Marlon Cumberatch commented on the results, saying he was surprised to learn that the majority of those surveyed do not feel free in the online space. According to him, regardless of income level, race and political views, Americans are convinced that they do not have enough control over how they interact with online content. According to the analyst, the findings point to “the real desire of consumers for a new era of the Internet.”
Recall that earlier YouTube published a statement on its blog in which it recognized the prospects of NFT and blockchain.
