A banner with a message for Macedonia appeared on Bulgaria by a student group of the extra-parliamentary party VMRO-BND, which is active in the nationalist space.
According to the website expres.mk, the banner that was posted in Plovdiv was written “Macedonia is Bulgarian” and was addressed to the country’s Prime Minister, Kirill Petkov.
“You are disrespectful to us, Mr Petkov.
The issue of “Macedonia” for the Bulgarian people is a living wound and you just throw salt in it.
Your behavior is completely irresponsible and we can say – anti-Bulgarian, given the attitude.
“Bulgarians are quite sensitive to this issue and you may not know it, because the issue of the Bulgarian national ideal is hardly studied at Harvard (where you studied),” MEP Angel Jabaski was quoted as saying in a letter.
