NATO, the Western military alliance, does not plan to send combat troops to Ukraine, a NATO official told Reuters. CNN.
“NATO and Allies are providing unprecedented military support to Ukraine. We have been doing this since 2014 and intensified after the large-scale invasion of Russia”, highlighted the source. “But there are no plans for NATO combat troops on the ground in Ukraine,” he warned.
The official added that NATO will continue to support Ukraine as it has done so far.
“We must remember what this is: a war of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, flagrantly violating international law,” he highlighted.
“According to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defense and we have the right to support it. This is what NATO Allies are and will continue to do”, he pondered.
This speech comes after French President Emmanuel Macron said that the sending of troops from the military alliance to Ukraine cannot be ruled out.
Several Western leaders countered Macron and denied they would send soldiers to the country.
