NATO will not allow Moscow to blackmail the alliance and will not accept Russia’s veto against enlargement, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said in an interview with Germany’s RBB on Thursday. .
“Russia has no veto power over the alliance and can not blackmail us. These red lines must be clear in all pending talks,” he told parliament.
“But between these red lines and a military conflict, there is a lot of room for maneuver,” Lambrecht said, adding that she would meet with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Berlin next week.
Lambrecht denies that there is a connection between Nord Stream 2 and the conflict in which the gas pipeline is used by Russia as a means of pressure.
