Natural gas: Gazprom stopped the flow from Russia to Germany via Nord Stream

Deliveries stopped early this morning natural gas from Russia to Germany via the Nord Stream pipeline due to maintenance work, Russian state energy giant Gazprom announced.

THE Gazprom had warned of suspending natural gas deliveries via Nord Stream for “essential” work at a compression station on the pipeline that connects gas fields in Siberia to northern Germany, from where it is exported to other European countries. According to the announcement of the Russian company, the maintenance work is scheduled to last until Saturday morning.

After his outbreak war in Ukraine, energy is at the center of a standoff between Russia and the West, which often accuses Moscow of using natural gas as a “weapon”.

Gazprom has reduced natural gas deliveries through Nord Stream by 80% in recent months, as reported by international agencies and relayed by the Athens News Agency.

The head of Germany’s federal energy regulator, Klaus Muller, said the work to be done on the pipeline “is technically incomprehensible”, calling it a pretext for Moscow to increase pressure on Ukraine’s allies.
