Russian court today dismisses lawsuit filed by jailed Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny against of the prison administration, requesting that the characterization of him as a “suspect escape” be removed, announced the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which he leads by posting on Twitter.
Navalny said the designation was used as a pretext to wake him up every hour during the night to check on his presence, a practice he described as unreasonable and illegal as he claimed it violated his right to a good night’s sleep.
However, the Petusinsky court in the Vladimirovskaya region, rejecting Navalny’s lawsuit, ruled that the IK-2 penitentiary where Navalny was initially held did not violate his rights to an uninterrupted eight-hour sleep.
He is currently in a different hospital with a hospital where he was transferred after a hunger strike in which he complained that he did not have adequate medical care and was not allowed to see a doctor of his choice, but he expects to be transferred soon. again in the original prison where he was constantly awakened during the night.
