Navy soldiers arrested for involvement in murder of expert in RJ

Four men were arrested, including two sergeants and a corporal from the Navy, for involvement in the murder of the Civil Police’s papilloscopist expert Renato Couto de Mendonça, in Rio de Janeiro. The crime would have occurred after a disagreement between the victim and the owner of a junkyard, located in Praça da Bandeira, in the north of the city, last Friday, 13.

Investigations show that Renato Couto de Mendonça, who worked at the Félix Pacheco Identification Institute (IIFP), was kidnapped by the son of the junkyard owner alongside colleagues, all of whom were Navy personnel.

According to the Civil Police, a Navy vehicle was used in the crime.

According to the main line of investigation, Renato was killed and his body was thrown into the Guandu River, in the municipality of Japeri, in Baixada Fluminense. Police said the prisoners will be charged with aggravated murder and concealment of a corpse.

The team from the 18th Police Station, at Praça da Bandeira, received information about the crime, and the agents managed to identify and arrest the men identified as the perpetrators of the murder this Sunday, 15th. Police are still searching to locate the expert’s body.

The action to arrest those accused of the murder involved agents from the 18th DP, the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC) and the IIFP.
