Nearly 110,000 customers across Florida, in the United States, were without power this Thursday (10), as Tropical Storm Nicole rips through the central part of the state.
More than 109,800 customers were affected by outages as of 5:00 am local time, according to the Poweroutage.us portal.
In Brevard County on Florida’s east coast, more than 16% of customers lost power. South of Brevard, in Indian River County, more than 9% of shoppers are in the dark.
Florida Power and Light reported thousands of customers without power in multiple counties.
“We are responding to Nicole’s severe tropical climate and cannot provide a restoration estimate at this time,” Florida Power and Light says on its website.
“Rest assured, we will continue to restore disruptions, including between the storm’s weather bands, as long as it is safe to do so.”
The utility’s website says crews will restore power as conditions allow. “Remember to stay away from flooding, downed power lines and debris,” he adds.
