Its federal Ministry of Health India announced today Sunday that in the past 24 hours 18,711 cases of SARS-CoV-2 have been confirmed, with the people infected with the new coronavirus reaching 11,210,799.
At the same time, the deaths of 100 patients with COVID-19 have increased the pandemic toll to 157,756 deaths so far.
The selected active cases increased to 184,523 (+4,219 compared to the previous one).
The number of new coronavirus infections in India has risen again in recent days, raising concerns about the possibility of a new wave. Until a few weeks ago, the cases were decreasing, they had even exceeded the limit of 10,000 per day.
The second, massive phase of the Asian country’s immunization campaign began earlier this week. The aim of the authorities is to vaccinate citizens over the age of 60 and over the age of 45 with comorbidities. About 20 million people have been vaccinated so far, most of them medical and nursing staff.
Germany reached 71,900 deaths
The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Germany increased by 8,103 in the previous 24 hours, reaching 2,500,182, show the data published today, Sunday, by the Robert Koch Institute, the country’s epidemiological surveillance body.
At the same time, 96 patients with COVID-19 succumbed, with the death toll from the new coronavirus pandemic reaching 71,900 dead so far, according to the same source.
