Negative trade balance of Greece – Russia in the six months – Positive with Ukraine

In June 2022 the value of Greece’s imports from Russia amounted to 625.3 million euros, marking an increase of 86.3% compared to June 2021 which was 335.7 million euros, according to ELSTAT data. The value of Greece’s exports to Russia in June 2022 amounted to 12.7 million euros, marking a decrease of 26.9% compared to June 2021 which was 17.4 million euros. The Greece-Russia trade balance in June 2022 was negative and amounted to 612.6 million euros (deficit).

In the period January-June 2022, the value of Greece’s imports from Russia amounted to 3,461.1 million euros, marking an increase of 112.3% compared to the period January-June 2021, which was 1,630.1 million euros. The value of Greece’s exports to Russia in the period January-June 2022 amounted to 60.2 million euros, marking a decrease of 30.3% compared to the period January-June 2021 which was 86.4 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Russia in the period January-June 2022 was negative and amounted to 3,400.9 million euros (deficit).

In the year 2021, 656 Greek companies imported from Russia and 639 Greek companies exported to Russia.

The total value of Greece’s imports from Russia in the year 2021 amounted to 4,302.4 million euros, recording an increase of 46.7% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 2,933.5 million euros.

The total value of Greece’s exports to Russia in 2021 amounted to 206.6 million euros, registering an increase of 28.0% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 161.4 million euros (Table 3) . Greece’s trade balance with Russia in 2021 was negative and amounted to 4,095.8 million euros (deficit).

Greece – Ukraine bilateral trade data

In June 2022 the value of Greece’s imports from Ukraine amounted to 8.5 million euros, marking a decrease of 40.9% compared to June 2021 which was 14.4 million euros. The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in June 2022 amounted to 86.0 million euros, marking an increase of 148.9% compared to June 2021 which was 34.6 million euros. The Greece-Ukraine trade balance in June 2022 was positive and amounted to 77.5 million euros (surplus).

In the period January-June 2022, the value of Greece’s imports from Ukraine amounted to 74.5 million euros, marking a decrease of 14.9% compared to the period January-June 2021, which was 87.5 million euros. The value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in the period January-June 2022 amounted to 130.6 million euros, marking an increase of 28.6% compared to the period January-June 2021 which was 101.5 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Ukraine in the period January-June 2022 was positive and amounted to 56.1 million euros (surplus).

In the year 2021, 494 Greek companies imported from Ukraine and 581 Greek companies exported to Ukraine.

The total value of Greece’s imports from Ukraine in the year 2021 amounted to 198.4 million euros, recording an increase of 10.8% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 179.0 million euros.

The total value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in the year 2021 amounted to 338.8 million euros, registering an increase of 74.9% compared to the corresponding total value for the year 2020 which was 193.7 million euros.

The trade balance of Greece with Ukraine in the year 2021 was positive and amounted to 140.4 million euros (surplus).
